Experienced social worker or senior social worker/amhp - integrated mental health team

Wokingham
Permanent
Wokingham Borough Council
Social worker amhp
Posted: 23 March
Offer description

We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a skilled, compassionate and experienced Social Worker or a Senior Social Worker to join our Integrated Mental Health Team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full-time, permanent basis.

We are proud to be part of the Social Care Future movement working towards a place where everyone can live in a home they love, stay connected to the things that matter and feel part of their community.

As an experienced social worker or Senior Social Worker, you’ll play a key role in supporting adults with a wide range of mental health needs. You’ll supervise colleagues, guiding and supporting them to grow in their roles and making sure the quality of our work is the best that it can be. Current transformation projects in the team include developing S117 Aftercare arrangements, in conjunction with the ICB, and increasing our Social Supervision provision to our forensic population; interest in developing these initiatives would be considered highly desirable but not essential.

You’ll work within the legal frameworks of the Care Act (2014) and Mental Health Act (1983) while keeping the person at the centre of everything you do. You’ll use a strengths‑based approach to assess needs, carry out reviews and plan support with people and their carers. Your aim is simple: help people stay well, stay safe and remain independent. You’ll work closely with family, carers, health partners within an integrated team with the local NHS Trust, and local organisations to make sure support is timely and right for each person. You’ll bring strong professional judgement, a calm approach and the confidence to work with higher‑risk situations.

You’ll join a supportive team that works closely together. The role is advertised as Senior Social Worker/AMHP however, we would also consider appointing a Social Worker/AMHP for the right candidate who is keen to develop. Additionally, if you’re AMHP who has been out of practice, we may be able to support your re-approval to you get back up and running. If you’re not yet an AMHP we will consider applications from those keen to undertake the training. We work flexibly through a mix of home working, office time and in‑person visits.

This is an exciting time to join us. We are an Award‑Winning Local Authority and were recently recognised by the Care Quality Commission as one of the best adult social care services in the country and ranked 2nd nationally in the Impower Productivity Index.

AMHP - Those on the AMHP rota receive a substantial AMHP allowance of £5355 - £7000 (depending on experience)

If you’re passionate about supporting adults to live well, make their own choices and stay connected to their communities, we’d love to hear from you!
