Tyres Recycling Lead
Contract Length: 12 Months
Location: Remote with occasional travel to either Bristol, London, Newcastle or York
Security Clearance: BPSS Basic
Provide specialist advice on tyre circularity, including material reuse, recycling technologies, and market development opportunities to support a more sustainable tyre lifecycle.
Shape policy delivery for tyres under the Circular Economy Growth Plan, ensuring proposals reflect operational realities and industry best practices.
Develop robust policy proposals, including defining issues, generating options, sourcing evidence, engaging stakeholders, and preparing papers and presentations for senior decision-makers.
Contribute to strategic planning, situating tyre-related work within the wider circular economy roadmap and supporting long-term goals for resource efficiency and net zero.
Engage with stakeholders across tyre manufacturers, recyclers, and regulators, building consensus and supporting practical implementation of policy changes.
Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, sharing expertise and supporting a one-team ethos across policy, technical, and delivery colleagues.
Bring innovation and constructive challenge, introducing new ideas and approaches to improve tyre recycling systems and market development.
Upskill Civil Servants, sharing specialist knowledge through mentoring, workshops, and technical guidance to build internal capability.
Provide clear, evidence-based advice and briefings to senior officials and ministers, translating technical detail into actionable recommendations.

As part of an interdisciplinary team leading our work on end of life electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, and vehicles including tyres, we are seeking seven experts with a background in electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, end of life vehicles, and tyres to shape the policies in the circular economy growth plan into delivery.
As the tyres recycling expert, you will have deep subject matter knowledge and expertise in Tyres, focusing on improving circularity in tyre production and recovery, advising on material reuse, producer responsibility, and market development.

Developing policy proposals: define the issue to be addressed, devise options, source an evidence base, engage stakeholders, and recommend a preferred option, all involving preparation of papers and presentations;
