We're supporting a growing residential property management business operating within the build-to-rent sector. They are seeking an experienced
Credit Controller
to support rent collection and arrears management across a portfolio of residential units.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role focused on maintaining strong cash flow, managing tenant accounts, and ensuring arrears are proactively monitored and resolved. The position would suit someone with prior property or housing-sector experience who is confident handling sensitive conversations and working within regulatory frameworks.
The Role
You will take ownership of rent collection and debtor management across a portfolio of residential properties. Working closely with property managers and finance colleagues, you'll ensure tenant accounts are accurate, payment plans are monitored, and arrears are actively managed in line with company policies.
Key Responsibilities
* Proactively chase rent arrears across residential portfolios to maximise cash collection
* Manage tenant accounts, ensuring payments are accurately allocated and reconciled
* Handle Section 8 notices and collections processes in line with regulatory requirements
* Agree and monitor repayment plans where appropriate
* Work closely with property managers to resolve tenant queries and disputes
* Maintain accurate records of all communication and actions taken
* Produce aged debt reports and highlight high-risk accounts to senior stakeholders
* Support month-end reporting and ensure debtor balances are accurate
* Liaise with external agencies or legal representatives where necessary
* Identify process improvements to strengthen arrears management and reporting
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience in
credit control within property, housing, or residential management
* Strong understanding of arrears processes and Section 8 procedures
* Confident communicator, comfortable handling difficult payment conversations
* Experience working with property management or tenancy systems
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high volumes of accounts
* Proactive, organised, and comfortable working on-site in a collaborative environment
