Intermediate Mechanical Design EngineerLeeds£35,000–£45,000 DOEFull-Time | Permanent We are working with a well-established, multidisciplinary building services consultancy seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing Leeds office. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to develop their technical expertise while working on a diverse range of innovative and sustainable projects.This is a permanent, full-time role operating within a flexible and agile working framework.The RoleAs an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality mechanical building services designs across a variety of sectors including healthcare, education, residential, commercial and industrial.You will be involved at every stage of projects, from concept design through to completion, working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.Key Responsibilities
* Work on a wide range of technically challenging projects across multiple sectors
* Participate in all stages of project delivery
* Produce drawings, specifications and technical documentation
* Carry out mechanical design calculations using both manual and software-based methods
* Monitor your own work to ensure quality, programme and budget compliance
* Liaise with other design disciplines to understand client requirements and support appropriate solution selection
* Contribute to technical coordination across disciplines
* Attend and represent the business at selected project meetings
* Integrate sustainability principles and low/zero carbon (LZC) technologies into designs
* Undertake site visits and review contractor installations for compliance with design intent
* Engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD) to stay current with industry developments
* Develop an understanding of electrical systems to support multidisciplinary collaboration
About You
* Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND also considered)
* Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience in building services design
* Experience using design software such as Microsoft Office, Relux/Dialux, Amtech and Revit
* Knowledge of British and European Standards and Building Regulations
* Awareness of HTMs (desirable but not essential)
* Working towards or holding professional membership (CIBSE, IET or similar)
* Understanding of renewable technologies and sustainable design integration
* Working knowledge of BREEAM
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
