Supervising Social Worker - Kinship & Permanence Team
Job description
37 hours per week
Due to internal promotion and continued expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for full-time Supervising Social Workers within the Kinship & Permanence Team.
In Bridgend County Borough Council we aim to ensure that Kinship Carers are recognised as professionals and they are actively involved when decisions are being made about children in their care. We strive to ensure Kinship Carers are provided with the right support at the right time to enable the children and young people in their care achieve the best possible outcomes. We achieve this by co-producing our service with Kinship Carers to ensure our service reflects their needs. We are seeking Social Workers who share our passion for Kinship Care.
Responsibilities
* Complete comprehensive, evidence-based Connected Persons and Special Guardianship assessments of kinship carers.
* Provide support through reflective supervision, Annual Reviews and learning and development opportunities.
* Collaborate with Kinship carers, Children and Families, and all other professionals who form part of the team around the child.
* Be organised, able to prioritise work to meet timescales, and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
* Participate in Duty, Recruitment and Retention activities, sit on Foster Panel, and engage in Team Meetings and Development Days.
* Join a friendly, well-established team with a robust induction, regular reflective supervision, training opportunities, and mentoring to develop skills.
Context and Environment
We sit alongside the General Fostering Team and work within a reflective organisation that focuses on kinship carers, children and their families from a strengths-based perspective. We are a Signs of Safety local authority and while existing experience is desirable, training opportunities will be provided.
Location and Relocation
Bridgend County Borough is a great place to live and work, with easy access to Swansea, Cardiff, and diverse settings. A relocation package up to £8,000 will be considered for this post.
Requirements and Conditions
* The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.
* Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
* An Enhanced Children and Adults DBS check is a requirement for this post.
* A valid driving licence is a requirement for this post.
* The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post, providing a framework for working hours between home and the office.
