The role
As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of our procurement transformation, helping to build a best-in-class sourcing function that drives profitability, reduces risk, and enhances capability across our Land Sector. This is a commercially focused role where your strategic thinking and supplier management skills will directly contribute to national defence and engineering excellence.
1. Leading sourcing activities including market engagement, tendering, contract negotiation, and supplier selection.
2. Collaborating with internal stakeholders to define third-party requirements and ensure supplier alignment.
3. Developing category strategies and supplier relationship plans to drive performance and value.
4. Supporting operational teams with bid-to-production transitions to ensure continuity and compliance.
5. Using digital procurement tools and data insights to shape sourcing strategies and report progress.
This role is full time and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Strategic Sourcing Specialist
6. Proven experience in Procurement, Category Management, Strategic Sourcing or Contract Management.
7. Track record of leading end-to-end procurement processes and delivering measurable value.
8. Experience across varied spend categories and supplier relationship management.
9. Skilled in creating bespoke RFx documentation to support sourcing strategies.
10. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Qualifications for the Strategic Sourcing Specialist
11. Desirable: Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) Level 4 or working towards.
