Job Description for Data Strategy & Data Office Role at Columbia Threadneedle Investments
Columbia Threadneedle Investments has established the Data Group function as a global enterprise team to deliver the firm’s data strategy, supporting growth, efficiency, and scale to provide greater value to clients.
Within this, a Strategy and Data Office manages the data delivery roadmap, driving strategy and planning alongside broader business functions such as Investments, Distribution, Operations, Finance, and Compliance. The Data Office sets enterprise data standards and practices around governance, quality, and adoption, and develops the short, medium, and long-term data strategy.
This role reports to the Head of Data Strategy and involves supporting the Data Office's management, documentation of strategies, roadmaps, and operating models, as well as implementing tooling for planning and knowledge management.
This position is ideal for someone aiming to advance in a firm enhancing its data capabilities, possibly transitioning from asset management or strategy consulting into a more strategic role within the industry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Internal Business Management (approx. 50%)
o Enhance and manage MI reporting for business and change activities.
o Support KPI dashboard development for performance monitoring.
o Produce risk and control reports, including KRIs and audit reviews.
o Develop capacity planning MI for prioritization forums.
o Manage internal and external communications, including updates and newsletters.
o Create and maintain a knowledge management repository.
o Project manage continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging automation.
2. Strategy & Planning Support (approx. 50%)
o Assist in documenting and maintaining the medium to long-term data strategy.
o Support development of the Data Group Service Catalogue and Operating Model.
o Facilitate strategy forums and develop related materials.
o Conduct market research and intelligence gathering on data maturity.
o Lead development of training materials and communication on Data Group services.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience in data roles and familiarity with Strategy or Data Offices preferred.
* Understanding of asset management industry data domains.
* Experience in developing business cases with financial analysis.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
* Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
* Attention to detail and high standards for quality documentation.
* Results-oriented, proactive, and well-organized, capable of multitasking.
* Strong collaboration skills across teams and stakeholders.
* Digital savviness is desirable, especially in data visualization and analytics.
