An opportunity has arisen full time position as a band 6 Charge nurse (deputy ward manager)
This post will require a keen, enthusiastic individual who wishes to pursue a career within oncology and haematology ward.
The successful candidate will need to provide visible, professional nursing leadership, support, supervision and guidance (in line with NMC standards), expert clinical advice and undertake management and monitoring activities in line with legal and professional requirements statutory rules and Health Board policies relating to evidence based practice, be responsible for the efficient management of the ward in the ward manager absence.
In the absence of the Ward manager the post holder will take charge of the clinical area to ensure effective operation of the ward/department.
The post holder has responsibility and accountability for maintaining both clinical and staff governance.
The post holder as a team leader has responsibility for managing a team of nurses who are delivering Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT).
The post holder will have junior staff reporting to them (registered nurses/non-registered nurses and learners), who will also require supervision.

Develop the role by using evidence-based practice and continuously improve own knowledge, following
Clinical:
Responsible for the safe delivery of all aspects of SACT administration .
As a nurse led unit and often without medical review the nurse has responsibility for toxicity assessment and is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of care for patients to ensure delivery of a high standard of care.
Work within and monitor standards of care within the defined policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the Ward, Directorate and Division to ensure adherence to, and delivery of, a high quality service.
Maintain effective communications with patients, relatives and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that appropriate information is shared and patient needs are met. Organise own workload to ensure that the interests of patients/clients are met.
Participate in clinical audit and research as required.
Develop and maintain a sound knowledge base and practice relevant to the clinical setting.
