Do you have a passion for supporting children with behaviour, emotional regulation, and positive relationships?
Are you a Psychology or Criminology graduate, an experienced Teaching Assistant, or someone with a background in mentoring, counselling, or youth work?
Milk Education is recruiting Behaviour Buddies to work across primary schools in Sunderland and South Tyneside. You will support pupils who need additional help managing behaviour and emotions within the classroom.

Graduates aspiring to careers in teaching, educational psychology, SEND, or mental health
No previous school experience is required. Training can be provided. Applicants must have graduated within the last three years.
The Behaviour Buddy Role
As a Behaviour Buddy, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour support
Help pupils develop emotional regulation and coping strategies
Support children displaying challenging or dysregulated behaviour
Promote positive behaviour and engagement with learning
Build consistent and trusting relationships
Work closely with class teachers and SEN teams
Behaviour & SEMH Needs You May Support
You may work with pupils experiencing:
Difficulties following routines or boundaries
Anxiety-related behaviours
Attachment needs
Low confidence and self-esteem
Emotional outbursts or withdrawal
Trauma-informed behavioural responses
Support is tailored to each child, helping them feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.
