Salary: Grade 9 – £32,070 - £34,359 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

Working Hours: 5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year

Contract Type: Fixed term for 1 academic year

Leicestershire Music is seeking an enthusiastic, forward-thinking and inspiring Secondary School Singing Teacher to join our team of specialist music tutors.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate vocal educator who believes in helping young people find their voice, grow in confidence, and develop musicianship through a high-quality singing provision.

About the Role

We are looking for a teacher who is:

1. Inspiring and motivational, able to engage and build confidence in young singers
2. Forward-thinking and adaptable, with fresh ideas for developing singing in schools
3. Experienced in teaching singing to secondary-age learners across a range of abilities
4. Possessing strong vocal technique and experience of entering pupils for ABRSM and/or Trinity practical examinations, and confident delivering 1:1 singing tuition
5. Committed to practice and enabling every student to progress
6. Organised, reliable, and an excellent communicator with students, families and colleagues
7. Passionate about ensemble music-making and developing young musicians in group settings

You will deliver engaging, high-quality singing teaching in secondary school settings and provide 1:1 singing tuition to children and young people across Leicestershire. You will help students develop vocal technique, musical understanding, and performance skills, supporting them from early stages through to confident ensemble and solo singing.

You will also contribute to the wider musical life of Leicestershire Music by supporting rehearsals, performances and enrichment activities.

About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

8. Qualification or experience demonstrating a high level of musical understanding, awareness and proficiency in your area of specialism (. music technology, instrumental etc).
9. Experience of performing, creating or facilitating music at a high-level
10. Experience of developing and adapting resources to respond to learners’ interest and needs and offers a level of challenge and independence appropriate to age, ability, capacity and context.
11. Excellent pedagogical knowledge and skills to teach your first study instrument/ voice. Evidence of successful teaching practice.
12. Knowledge of how to differentiate teaching to meet the interests, needs, and learning styles of a wide range of children and young people.
13. The ability to model and demonstrate effectively both on your instrument(s) and by use of the voice to model high level performing standards on your first study and to be an advocate for Leicestershire Music, taking the initiative to help increase participation in musical activities.
14. The ability to provide clear and coherent written material, particularly for planning and assessment to communicate clearly and effectively to a range of audiences when teaching, rehearsing and promoting Leicestershire Music. Enthusiasm, initiative and the motivation to achieve excellent musical standards to work collaboratively and creatively to find solutions. Ability to reflect on, refine and develop teaching practice.
