An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Operations Department for a permanent Process Engineer position, reporting to the Process Engineering Manager. This role also works closely with Production Section Leaders and QA Engineering team.
Responsibilities include:
1. Health and Safety
2. Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental legislative standards across all production areas.
3. Ensure safety requirements are clearly documented in relevant SOPs.
4. Production Process Improvement
5. Continuously review and improve processes for efficiency, including re-engineering and training.
6. Recommend and implement revised methods to align labor costs with business objectives.
7. SOPs
8. Lead creation and management of all product and process SOPs, ensuring control and compliance.
9. Promote a culture of discipline regarding standards and expectations.
10. Implement training programs for new processes.
11. Ensure all manufacturing activities are covered by SOPs and documented on SharePoint.
12. Support the Quality Engineering team in timely closure of complaints (CCAs).
13. Aim for continuous improvement in process-related CCAs.
14. New Product Introduction
15. Lead efforts to progress NPIs and ensure effective communication of project plans.
16. Prepare production areas for timely product launches, including validation of jigs and fixtures.
17. Ensure full documentation and approval (FAT/SAT).
18. Record and submit production metrics.
19. Assist in analyzing NRFT KPIs and implement corrective actions to reduce them month over month.
20. Inter-departmental Interface
21. Serve as the primary process interface between manufacturing, Technical, and Sales departments.
22. Ensure timely implementation of NPI, PNR, and PCD actions.
23. Process Change Management
24. Manage process changes through the change management system with stakeholder approval.
25. Perform any other tasks deemed appropriate by the manager.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The following competencies are essential for the Production / Process Improvement Engineer role:
Professional Requirements
* Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (HND/HNC).
* 3-5 years’ experience in industrial manufacturing.
* Proven experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and related tools.
* Knowledge of FMEA, 8D, Ishikawa diagrams, 5-why, SPC; Yellow/Green Belt preferred.
* Six Sigma experience and certification are highly desirable.
* Experience working within ISO quality standards.
* Experience automating manual processes and transitioning to single-piece flow.
* Proactive, strategic thinker with initiative.
* Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
* Ability to influence and motivate teams.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
* Team player with leadership qualities.
