Job Description:
SJC Partners is currently managing the recruitment process for the hire of an Acquisition Search Director into an innovative mergers and acquisitions deal sourcing business.
Our client specializes in sourcing off-market businesses for acquisition by private equity investors, PE-backed companies, listed businesses, and some private companies.
Businesses wishing to acquire or invest in other businesses engage our client to undertake a bespoke acquisition search process, uncovering target businesses within their specific criteria and facilitating the approach to these businesses. Companies rely on our client to have thorough commercial conversations with business owners, quickly understanding different business models and building trust with target businesses.
The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end client management in the following process:
* Agree the scope of the acquisition search with clients at the board level.
* Liaise with the research team to identify businesses within the client’s search criteria. The research will be conducted by an in-house research team, not the candidate.
* Approach majority shareholders of target businesses and hold detailed, highly commercial conversations via video call to discuss their business models, track records, growth trajectories, financials, and owners’ aspirations regarding selling their businesses.
* Discuss each interested business with the client and facilitate meetings with selected targets.
* Manage the acquisition process relationships thereafter, requiring strong commercial understanding but not financial qualifications.
Applicants should be able to quickly understand various business models. Experience at the board level is important as the role involves managing relationships with owners/CEOs, often within large corporates, private equity, and private equity-backed businesses.
Applicants from diverse commercial backgrounds will be considered, including those who have run their own businesses or operated at Director level.
This role offers a competitive salary combined with an attractive, transparent bonus structure paid multiple times a year, based on deal activity. The bonus is uncapped, with potential earnings of 100% of the salary or more in a good year.
