Overview
The Greenspace Action Team within Kirklees Council is seeking Community & Environmental Support Officers (Environmental Rangers). You will work outdoors to maintain green spaces, tackle anti‑social behaviour, and support local communities.
Responsibilities
* Light maintenance of green spaces, including graffiti removal, vegetation control, and litter picking.
* Fly tip clearance across the district, searching for evidence and coordinating with Enforcement Officers for prosecutions.
* Highways reactive work and maintenance of Public Rights of Ways.
* Engage with individuals, groups, and communities to improve the quality of life across Kirklees.
Requirements
* Experience working in a public environment with direct contact with customers and staff.
* Ability to organise and prioritise allocated tasks, work unaccompanied and with minimum supervision.
* Understanding of local community issues and ability to use this to engage/support communities.
* Numeracy and literacy skills to produce and maintain records and computer skills to produce accurate reports.
* Flexible approach to working arrangements and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
* Ability to work outside in all weathers.
* Physically fit, able to walk distances, bend and lift – medical examination required.
* Full driving licence (4x4 or council van) and flexibility to travel to various locations.
