As a result of our expansion plans, and our continued ongoing success we are seeking a dynamic Retail Finance Business Partner to be based at our Head Office in Plymouth.
About the Role:
To act as a strategic finance partner to retail store operations, driving commercial performance through insightful analysis and proactive support on sales and payroll. This role ensures stores are optimising revenue, managing labour effectively, and delivering against financial targets while maintaining operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
1. Sales Performance & Commercial Insight
1. Partner with regional and store managers to drive sales performance against budget and forecast
2. Provide clear, actionable insight on sales trends, like-for-like performance, and product/category results
3. Identify risks and opportunities, supporting corrective actions where required
4. Challenge assumptions and support target setting and forecasting
5. Translate financial data into clear, operational actions for store teams
2. Payroll & Labour Cost Management
6. Own and support delivery of payroll budgets across the store estate
7. Analyse labour metrics including labour % to sales, hours vs demand, and productivity
8. Partner with operations to optimise scheduling and rotas
9. Balance service levels with cost control
10. Provide guidance on labour planning aligned to sales demand
11. Highlight risks such as overspend or under-resourcing
3. Budgeting & Forecasting
12. Lead store-level input into annual budgets and rolling forecasts
13. Ensure alignment between sales plans and payroll investment
14. Build realistic, data-driven assumptions
15. Support scenario planning, including peak trading, promotions, and cost pressures
4. Performance Reporting & Governance
16. Deliver clear, concise reporting for store performance reviews and regional leadership meetings
17. Establish consistent KPIs and performance dashboards
18. Ensure financial discipline across the store estate
19. Support governance processes with accurate and timely data
5. Stakeholder Partnership
20. Build strong relationships with store managers, area/regional managers, and retail operations teams
21. Act as a trusted advisor, not just a reporter of performance
22. Coach non-finance stakeholders to improve financial understanding
23. Influence decision-making through data-driven insight
6. Continuous Improvement
24. Identify opportunities to improve reporting, labour planning, and sales performance tracking
25. Simplify financial information for operational use
26. Support implementation of tools and systems that enhance store performance
