Birchwell Associates is recruiting on behalf of a leading data centre operator for a Data Centre Engineer to join a modern South Manchester facility.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role supporting critical IT infrastructure within a live data centre environment.
Key Responsibilities Day-to-day support of data centre operations
Managing incidents and requests via helpdesk, phone, and email
Installing racks, servers, networking equipment, and structured cabling
Monitoring infrastructure and BMS systems
Delivering remote hands support to customers
Supporting new deployments and infrastructure changes
Handling deliveries and general data centre logistics
Skills & Experience Experience working in a data centre or critical environment
Strong understanding of server hardware and structured cabling
Familiarity with ticketing/helpdesk systems
Good general IT and Microsoft Office skills
Customer-focused with strong communication skills
Additional Requirements Must live within 30 minutes of South Manchester site
Participation in 1-in-3 on-call rota
Successful security vetting required
