We are looking for a Maintenance Manager to work on a permanent basis for a global manufacturing company based in St Helens.
Salary is c£50-60,000 per annum plus monthly bonus, 25 days' holiday and bank holidays, pension, healthcare etc.
Duties for the Maintenance Manager:
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Maintenance Manager to take ownership of all maintenance operations at a busy manufacturing facility. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive reliability, optimise equipment performance, and lead a skilled team to maintain smooth operations across production and site infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities for the Maintenance Manager:

Lead and develop the maintenance team, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance management.

Plan, prioritise, and oversee maintenance activities to minimise downtime and maintain production schedules.
*
Ensure all machinery, equipment, and facility systems are maintained to high standards and comply with health and safety regulations.
*
Implement preventative maintenance strategies and track progress using maintenance management systems.
*
Respond quickly to equipment failures or urgent issues, coordinating repairs to limit operational disruption.
*
Manage maintenance budgets, controlling costs while ensuring availability of essential parts and resources.
*
Coordinate installation and commissioning of new equipment, working with internal teams and external contractors.
*
Monitor and report on equipment performance metrics, identifying trends and driving improvements.
*
Promote safe working practices across the team, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies.
*
Maintain workshops, tools, and stores to ensure organisation, cleanliness, and adherence to best practices.
*
Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
*
Manage external service providers, ensuring work is completed on time, to standard, and within budget.
*
Support site-wide projects and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimising performance and reducing costs.
Experience & Skills Required for the Maintenance Manager

Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge; experience with multi-disciplinary maintenance is highly desirable.
*
Proven leadership skills with experience managing a team in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
*
Solid track record of managing preventative maintenance programmes.
*
Familiarity with maintenance management systems and reporting tools.
*
Problem-solving mindset with experience in root cause analysis.
*
Excellent organisational and planning skills, able to balance reactive and planned maintenance priorities.
*
Strong communication skills, able to work collaboratively across teams.
Qualifications for the Maintenance Manager
*
Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, NVQ, or equivalent).
*
IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health and safety qualification.
*
Significant experience in a maintenance leadership role within manufacturing or industrial operations.
*
Exposure to Lean, TPM, 5S, or other continuous improvement frameworks is advantageous.
