About the Role
As a Functional Integration Lead Engineer, you’ll support the Head of Functional Integration in delivering compatibility and software integration activities across complex missile and weapon systems.
This is a hands-on, practical role where you’ll be planning and conducting integration and compatibility proving activities, developing a deep understanding of how systems and subsystems interact in real operational configurations.
You’ll work closely with project customers and stakeholders to achieve key design verification milestones and contribute to qualification campaigns. It’s varied, technical and genuinely impactful work.
Key responsibilities include:
• Planning and delivering proving tests aligned to programme maturity milestones
• Supporting timely clearance and certification for trials activities
• Collaborating with systems and design teams to derive robust test requirements
• Overseeing generation of test instructions, reports and supporting safety documentation
• Integrating multiple missile and launcher variants in trials and operational configurations
• Supporting integration of trials test equipment
• Coordinating with design teams to diagnose issues and define solutions
• Supporting defect investigations and data analysis
• Defining test and trials equipment requirements
You’ll also contribute to developing best practice across integration and proving activities, helping strengthen overall capability while building your own technical leadership skills.
What You’ll Need
• Degree qualified in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or similar
• Strong understanding of hardware and software integration and test activities
• Experience using commercial lab test equipment
• Familiarity with data analysis tools and methods
• Experience or interest in scripting, such as Python
• Logical problem-solving skills and a practical mindset
• Adaptability and the confidence to work in a fast-paced engineering environment
Security & Eligibility
British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship required.
Successful candidates will need to undergo BPSS checks following offer stage.
