We are recruiting for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join a well-established contractor on a project in Shepton Mallet. This is a long-term opportunity offering continuity of work on a well-structured scheme.
The business is a specialist construction and development organisation with a strong track record of delivering high-quality projects across mixed-use, residential, and infrastructure sectors. They are known for working on complex schemes, often in partnership with key stakeholders, delivering projects that combine technical expertise with strong planning and coordination.
The Role
As Setting Out Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of the project, taking responsibility for all aspects of setting out, surveying, and site engineering support.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident working independently, managing their own workload, and supporting site teams with accurate and reliable setting out across multiple packages.
Key Responsibilities
Carrying out all setting out duties across the project
Establishing and maintaining site control points and benchmarks
Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
Providing engineering support to site management and subcontractors
Ensuring works are delivered in line with design and tolerances
Producing and maintaining accurate as-built records
Assisting with QA procedures and documentation
Monitoring progress and reporting any issues to the project team
Requirements
Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer
Strong understanding of construction processes and site delivery
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Essential requirement is a valid CSCS card.
Setting out equipment is flexible and can be provided if required.
