Primary Teaching Assistant - SEND
Join a nurturing, forward-thinking special school as a Primary SEND Teaching Assistant and help create a safe, engaging space where every child can thrive. This long-term temporary role is classroom-based, with a strong possibility of becoming permanent for the right person.
The Role
Supporting pupils across the primary phase, you'll be part of a vibrant, high-energy environment where every day is packed with fun and purposeful play-based learning. From sensory play to creative tasks, music, movement, and outdoor activities, no two days are the same. Lessons are designed to be highly engaging and accessible, with a strong focus on communication, emotional regulation, and independence. You'll work closely with teaching staff and therapists to deliver personalised support in line with each child's EHCP.
The Ideal Person and Skills/Education Needed
You'll bring experience supporting individuals with SEND, whether children or adults, and a strong understanding of inclusive practice. A Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential. What matters most is your ability to engage pupils through creative, playful approaches, and to remain calm, energetic, and adaptable in a fast-paced, rewarding environment.
The School
This special school provides outstanding education for pupils with a wide range of complex needs. Its curriculum is designed around communication, life skills, and independence, delivered through fun and creative experiences that reflect each child's needs and interests. The staff team is passionate, collaborative, and deeply committed to inclusive education.
