ARN163 Senior Practitioner – Family Support
Ambassadors Resourcing is recruiting for an experienced temporary Lead Practitioner – Family Support for the North-East Birmingham Family Hub. The role focuses on supporting vulnerable families within the 0–19 model (primarily 0–5) using a whole-family approach.
The successful candidate will lead the Family Practitioner team, oversee safeguarding practices, coordinate targeted interventions, and build strong multi-agency partnerships to improve outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Family Practitioner – Family Support team across the locality.
* Deliver targeted support for vulnerable and complex families using a whole-family approach.
* Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring safeguarding compliance, training, monitoring and reporting.
* Provide supervision, guidance and support to staff delivering 1:1 and group interventions.
* Ensure timely assessments, effective case management and appropriate referrals/interventions.
* Maintain strong partnerships with families, health visitors, schools and external agencies.
* Support hard-to-reach families using innovative engagement approaches.
* Oversee safeguarding audits, inspections, record keeping and data protection compliance.
* Manage health & safety procedures, including lone working and risk assessments.
* Lead allocation meetings alongside health visitors.
* Support service delivery targets, staff induction, volunteers and student placements.
* Deliver services flexibly across Family Hub locations, including duty drop-in services.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have:
* NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, Health or Social Care.
* Experience managing complex family support casework (Tier 3/4).
* Leadership and team management experience.
* Strong experience in early intervention and family support with vulnerable families.
* Experience completing assessments, home visits, parenting programmes and group work.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, Early Help processes and lead professional responsibilities.
* Experience maintaining accurate case files, records and risk assessments.
* Excellent communication, relationship-building and partnership-working skills.
* Ability to manage crisis situations effectively.
* GCSE Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
* Full driving licence (Desirable) and ability to travel across the service area.
* Enhanced DBS, overseas police checks (if applicable) and right to work in the UK.
