We’re on the lookout for confident, reliable Cover Supervisors to support schools across York. Whether you’ve worked in education before or you’ve got experience leading groups of young people in another setting, this could be the perfect next step. You’ll be keeping lessons running smoothly when teachers are away, making sure students stay on task, engaged, and supported throughout the day. Think calm classroom presence, good banter when it’s needed, and the ability to keep things ticking along without the drama. What you’ll be doing: Supervising pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects Managing classroom behaviour and keeping students focused Supporting pupils with questions and encouraging participation Reporting back to teaching staff after lessons Creating a positive and respectful classroom environment What we’re looking for: Experience working with young people, in schools, coaching, youth work, tutoring or similar Confident communication and strong classroom presence Ability to stay calm under pressure and think on your feet Flexible and adaptable approach A genuine interest in education and supporting students Bonus points if you have: Previous Cover Supervisor or TA experience A degree or relevant qualifications Behaviour management experience Thrive training or SEND experience Not Thrive trained yet?
