Are you passionate about the future of smart infrastructure? We’re looking for an innovative OT Framework IIoT Architect to help shape the next generation of water infrastructure through cutting-edge Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions.
This is a key role in our infrastructure enhancement programme, where you’ll design and implement scalable, secure, and sustainable IIoT systems that drive operational efficiency and environmental resilience.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including: identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service).
Your role
1. Sign and maintain a future-ready IIoT architecture aligned with business goals and AMP8 objectives
2. Develop secure, scalable IIoT solutions that integrate with OT systems like SCADA, PLCs, and industrial networks
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and deliver IIoT opportunities in pipeline and recycling centre upgrades
4. Create technical specifications and design documentation for IIoT implementations
5. Evaluate and recommend IIoT devices, sensors, and communication protocols
6. Develop strategies for data collection, processing, and analytics to support predictive maintenance and decision-making
7. Ensure IIoT solutions support climate resilience and ecological sustainability
8. Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure secure deployments
9. Lead proof-of-concept and pilot projects for new IIoT technologies
10. Stay current with IIoT trends and assess their relevance to the water sector
11. Mentor team members and share best practices in IIoT design and deployment
12. Work with vendors and partners to ensure seamless integration into the OT framework
We believe you can bring your whole self to work. At Capgemini, building an inclusive future is part of everyday life and part of your working reality. We have built a diverse and welcoming environment for everyone.
Your skills and experience
1. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
2. 5+ years of experience in IT/OT systems, with focus on IIoT architecture and implementation
3. Strong knowledge of IIoT technologies, protocols (e.g., MQTT, LoRaWAN), and edge computing
4. Experience with cloud platforms and services for IIoT data management
5. Familiarity with OT systems (SCADA, PLCs, industrial networks)
6. Understanding of industrial communication protocols and network architectures
7. Experience with data analytics and machine learning in IIoT contexts
8. Knowledge of security standards (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82)
9. Relevant certifications in IIoT, cloud, or industrial networking are a bonus
Don’t meet every single requirement? We encourage you to apply anyway. We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, and we value your potential.
Your security clearance
To be successfully appointed, you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks. There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although additional checks may be required if you have resided outside the UK in the last 3 years.
