The role purpose
We have an exciting position for a Senior Credit Controller to join our firm based in Bristol. You will be working as part of the Central credit control function.
This is a busy and varied role and involves managing your own credit control portfolio with involvement in preparing Management Information and the review of the credit control process in line with the firm’s standard procedures.
Key responsibilities
1. Establishing and maintaining effective communication links with both internal and external clients at all levels
2. Be accountable and take ownership of your allocated ledger and be proactive in managing the collection and resolution of debt and individual queries
3. Ensure problem debts or bad debts are escalated for further action and recommend recovery solutions to internal colleagues and Directors
4. Develop client relationships to understand the agreed payment terms and processes and improve the service delivered by the Credit Control team
5. Build strong relationships with internal customers and arrange regular debt reviews to ensure all debts are chased in a timely manner
6. Preparation of Management Information and other reports as requested by the Credit Control Manager
7. Ensure unallocated monies are identified
8. Assist in ensuring colleagues within the team are trained and developed effectively to be able to carry out their roles
9. Raise the credit control team profile by providing guidance and support to internal customers to support company growth
10. Prioritisation of workload to achieve targets
11. Monthly cash forecasting of own credit control portfolio, discuss and agree with Senior Directors prior to submission and ensure team member's forecasts are submitted by the agreed dates
12. Gather data from the team to ensure information is shared with the business
13. Ensure credit control timetable is followed by self and team members
14. Lead monthly debt conference calls with internal stakeholders
15. Ad-hoc tasks as required by the Credit Control Manager
What we are looking for
16. The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role
17. Minimum of 5 years of Credit Control experience
18. Minimum of 3 years experience at a senior credit control level
19. Experience in reviewing credit checks and setting and monitoring credit limits
20. Attention to detail and must demonstrate a positive and proactive approach
21. The ability to communicate clearly at all levels
22. Assertive and professional on the telephone
23. You’ll be IT literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, with a meticulous eye for detail and methodical approach; you’ll be as happy working on your own initiative as you are following direction
24. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be confident communicating with people at all levels to enable you to build good working relationships with all those around you
25. Strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task are essential, with a good team spirit
