Assistant Electrical Engineer – Lighting & Energy role at WSP in the U.S. We are seeking an Assistant Electrical Engineer to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team. The role provides low voltage electrical design and consultancy services for nationally significant clients, supporting technical leads on complex engineering projects.
Responsibilities
* Provide low voltage electrical design and consultancy services for nationally significant clients, supporting technical leads on complex engineering projects.
* Work on a diverse range of projects for public and private sector organisations and become part of a respected and ambitious company with strong career prospects and international opportunities.
* Engage in EV infrastructure projects, including feasibility studies, design and technical assurance across a spectrum from local authority chargers to multi-vector refuelling hubs with megawatt charging systems and other low carbon fuels.
* Design renewable energy generation and energy storage systems to support decarbonisation and net-zero goals.
* Contribute to innovative urban realm regeneration projects by creating vibrant public spaces for work, living and leisure.
* Provide highway electrical design and assurance across local authority and national highways client bases.
* Be accountable for your own project work, report issues proactively to project leads, and participate in reviews and meetings to provide input on project responsibilities.
* Coordinate and communicate with other design teams and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, including scope understanding, dependency identification and clash detection.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
* A track record of performing to a high standard while undertaking low voltage electrical design, preferably within the transportation sector.
* Knowledge and experience of feasibility, design, installation, maintenance, or technical assurance services within the EV infrastructure sector and/or broader transportation sector.
* Willingness to develop and take responsibility for technical output, programme and financial performance of your work packages.
* Evidence of being a confident communicator who can convey viewpoints and keep stakeholders informed.
* EngTech registration with the Engineering Council or active membership with a professional institution.
* Hold City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulation certification (C&G 2382).
* Experience with AutoCAD, Trimble Amtech ProDesign and Modecsoft ElectricalOM is beneficial but not essential.
