Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) is a specialist service providing assessment and treatment/intervention for children and young people aged 5–18 years experiencing mental ill-health (e.g., severe anxiety, depression, suicidal behaviors).
CAMHS, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, has been re-designed to support children/young people and their families in a more dynamic way.
There are now three specialist teams working together to ensure the right mental health support is provided to every child/young person who requires our service.
Meet the Teams
* Specialist Community CAMHS (S-CAMHS):
This team offers specialist assessment, care, and treatment for children and young people experiencing serious mental health problems such as low mood, anxiety, suicidal ideation. It provides clinical support, assessment, and diagnosis for children and young people with co-occurring neurodevelopmental conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
* CAMHS Urgent Assessment and Intensive Treatment (CUAIT):
This team responds to urgent needs of children and young people experiencing a mental health crisis.
Position
An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Speech & Language Therapist at Ayrshire Central Hospital.

What you will do:
You will work with our multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical support, assessment, and diagnosis for children/young people with serious mental health issues such as low mood, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and co-occurring neurodevelopmental conditions.

Knowledge, training, and/or experience required:
- University Degree or equivalent (3-year ordinary degree or 4-year honours degree).
- Professional registration is required, along with a good understanding of current national policies.
- Experience working with children and young people with emotional, behavioral, social, and mental health difficulties, and knowledge of neurodevelopmental assessment and diagnostic processes.
- Access to mentoring, professional supervision, and opportunities for professional development.
- Experience working with children and young people with mental health difficulties and knowledge of neurodevelopmental assessments.
