Environmental Protection Enforcement Officer
Company: Kingdom Local Authority Support
Location: Camden & Islington Boroughs, N1 1XR area
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, shifts as per rota (generally 5 on/2 off). Monday to Sunday shifts 07:00–23:00. Some weekends included.
Pay Rate: £13.50–£16.00 per hour. Weekly pay.
Note: Own transport is required.
What The Role Is
Assist in day‑to‑day monitoring and enforcement of environmental issues, anti‑social behaviour and contraventions of relevant legislation, working alongside the Local Authority and Kingdom.
Environmental Law Enforcement
* Enforce environmental regulations and local by‑laws relating to littering, fly‑tipping, graffiti, waste management, noise pollution, and other environmental concerns.
* Patrol assigned areas to detect violations and ensure compliance with environmental laws.
* Investigate reports of environmental offences from the public and respond promptly to complaints.
Issuing Fines and Notices
* Issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs) and citations for non‑compliance with environmental laws.
* Prepare and serve legal documents, including warning notices and fines, in accordance with local laws.
* Conduct follow‑up visits to ensure compliance with issued notices and take further action if necessary.
Investigation and Reporting
* Investigate environmental offences such as illegal dumping, abandoned vehicles, and unlawful waste disposal by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing case files.
* Use surveillance equipment, including cameras, to monitor and collect evidence of environmental crimes.
* Report findings to senior management and collaborate with legal teams to pursue prosecutions when necessary.
Court Proceedings and Legal Support
* Prepare case files for prosecution, including collecting evidence, photographs, and witness statements.
* Attend court proceedings and present evidence as required to support legal action against offenders.

Express information clearly and concisely to ensure understanding.

Adapt to change and work effectively in various situations and weather conditions.
Learning and Development
Participate in training courses to gain insight into daily duties, current legislation, communication, and interaction aspects of the role, earning a recognised qualification in environmental awareness.
