Commercial Lawyers are needed for E.ON’s Legal, Compliance and Data Protection Team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Roles are based in Solihull or Nottingham and offer flexible hybrid working.
Responsibilities
* EIS and I&C Commercial Lawyers:
o Providing in‑house legal advice across E.ON’s business with a focus on infrastructure and commercial energy solutions.
o Enabling energy infrastructure projects (including on‑site and off‑site PV solar, wind and heat pumps, and heat networks) for commercial and public sector clients by advising on development, sales, procurement, construction and operation.
o Advising on commercial contracts such as ESCO, private wire, waste heat off‑take, and energy supply agreements.
o Advising on complex energy supply agreements, data and metering contracts, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and regulatory changes.
* Commercial Projects Lawyer:
o Advising on partnering and joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and internal reorganisations.
o Supporting the City Quarter Partnerships team, including bidding for strategic energy partnerships with cities.
o Supporting the Heat Zone Development Team on market entry for district heating, including corporate or commercial partnering and third‑party financing.
* Next Commercial Lawyer:
o Providing in‑house counsel and supporting delivery of propositions to bring energy solutions and tariffs into residential homes.
o Advising on legal risk in respect of FCA and Financial Services law impacting the E.ON Next business.
o Advising on commercial contracts, including metering agreements.
Qualifications
* UK‑qualified solicitor or barrister.
* Experience in construction and/or complex commercial contracts (EIS/I&C).
* Experience advising on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, partnering, joint ventures and reorganisations (Commercial Projects).
* FCA and Financial law expertise and relevant experience of applying that knowledge to projects (Next).
* Strong business acumen and a practical, solutions‑focused approach.
* Ability to work independently and collaborate as a team.
* Resilient in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines.
* Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills across all business levels.
* Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Additional (Optional) Experience
* Experience in the energy industry or a regulated or in‑house environment.
* Retail experience for the Next Commercial Lawyer role.
* Familiarity with energy infrastructure projects, energy supply contracts or PPAs (EIS/I&C).
