Tasks
Your main tasks include, among others:
1. Operate all machine tools, including milling machines, lathes, and grinders, as well as hand tools
2. Use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments
3. Responsible for the manufacture, service and repair of tools, assembly jigs and fixtures during the development of new products and support of existing products
4. Manufacture of tools against drawings, sketches and verbal instructions
5. To give advice on tooling design and manufacture
6. Maintenance and repair of existing production tools
7. Liaise with engineering and production personnel, to advise project teams on tool design and assist in reviewing/ checking processes
8. Manufacturing tooling to assist in assembly and testing of prototypes
Requirements
The ideal Tool Maker should meet the following requirements:
9. Engineering Apprenticeship preferred by not essential
10. Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent
11. Tool room experience preferable but good all rounded experience within a workshop environment essential
12. A good working knowledge of mathematics and workshop practice to at least City and Guilds Engineering standard
13. Working knowledge of welding i.e Gas, Mig Tig, and Stick Welding but not essential
14. Disciplines in the use of CNC machinery, lathes, grinding, milling, and tool room machinery
15. Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
16. Team player
17. Good attitude to workshop housekeeping
18. Ale to work with tight deadlines
19. Flexible approach to work
20. Good communication skills
21. Good decision making skills
22. Right to work within the UK without any restrictions
