Castlefield Recruitment are partnering with the University of York on their search to recruit a Finance Manager on a fixed term contract until September 2027. Due to an ongoing system implementation across corporate functions, the University require an experienced Finance Manager to support their team.
The Finance Manager will manage and provide professional leadership to the team of finance specialists within the faculty. The Finance Manager through effective leadership and clear vision will lead the team on achieving the financial visions of the faculty and wider University. The vision will be to develop best practice alongside creating effective working relationships with the Dean and Senior Leadership Team. There will also be opportunities to be involved in a variety of projects aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and procedures.
The Role
1. Lead strategic financial planning for the faculty.
2. Building strong working relationships with the Faculty Executive Board (FEB) and Senior Leadership Team
3. Share and develop best practices and ensuring consistent ways of working across the management accounting function
4. Ensure a robust five-year financial plan is prepared and reviewed on a regular basis, and that monthly budget monitoring and control is efficient and effective
5. Leading on projects within the finance department including supporting and developing the reporting framework
6. Provide financial information and advice in respect of bespoke new initiatives and financial business plans
7. Provide financial solutions to the Dean of Faculty to assist in management of the Faculty financial position
8. Represent the University in liaison with external bodies (e.g. Research funders/Commercial agencies/Other Government Bodies)

The Person
15. A Professional Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
16. Experience of providing excellent financial business partnering to senior leaders
17. Extensive knowledge of UK GAAP
18. Change Management experience would be beneficial
