The Role
Performs set-up and operates computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centres to manufacture metallic and/or non-metallic parts to very close tolerances under minimal supervision with keen attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
* Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements.
* Interpret work instructions.
* Identify, select and set up tooling for operations being performed.
* Operate multiple machine tools and operations.
* Understand applicable quality systems and perform necessary quality inspections.
* Visually inspects final components.
* Uses precision measuring instruments & gauging devices and performs various quality inspection type procedures to include dimensional verification.
* Assumes responsibility for quality and functionality.
* Adhere to all policies and procedures.
* Maintain a team focused work environment.
* Responsible for general housekeeping and cleanliness of working area.
* Ability to work rotating Day/Back/Night shifts.
* Seek out and identify Continuous Improvement opportunities.
* Apply principles of Lean Manufacturing to reduced setup times and improve productivity.

* One or more manufacturing skills (CNC Turning, 3/4/5 Axis milling, Inspection, Bench, CMM)
* The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Minimum Qualifications
* Be time served in a machining discipline
* Previous experience in similar industry is preferable (Aerospace)
* Experience working with CNC machines with various controls including Fanuc, Mazatrol & Heidenhain
* Must be self-motivated and possess facilitation skills to be used in a team setting.
* Prior experience with precision inspection equipment.
* Proven ability to hold tight machining tolerances.
