Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic,motivated, and competent clinician to become part of our friendly team at theLymington Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) in the New Forest, Hampshire. This isan exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician to progress and achievethe level of nurse practitioner/specialist paramedic prescriber and become acompetent and autonomous practitioner, within the field of minor injury andminor illness. The UTC has run the Development Clinical Practitioner programmesuccessfully for 2 years with clinicians achieving an excellent clinical andacademic standard.
The successful applicant should be aregistered nurse or paramedic with good experience of emergency care. We are alsoparticularly interested in candidates with a background in minor injury and/orillness. You will also need a high degree of enthusiasm anddrive to develop as a clinician and work with the team to gain the necessaryknowledge and experience to achieve the level to be a competent and autonomouspractitioner. This is a post comprising of a minimum of 36 hours per week andan expectation of working a range of shifts, includingevening, weekends, bank-holidays. As a development post it will involve aperiod of learning and experience within the department to sign off oncompetencies, attending relevant short training courses, and the department willsupport the applicant through the necessary level 7 university modules toachieve the level of Clinical Practitioner Prescriber.

1. Registered nurse or paramedic with NMC or HCPC registration
2. At least four years of working full-time within an acute healthcare setting such as emergency department, primary care, or pre-hospital.

4. A demonstrable and good standard of continued professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical practitioner role.
5. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills written, verbal (particularly listening skills
7. Clear understanding of professional responsibility and accountability.
8. Good organisational skills and ability to manage and prioritise own workload
9. Be able to clear an enhanced DBS check/Must be authorised to work in the UK

Lymington UTC sees approximately 31,000attendances per year and this demand has increased since the COVID pandemic. Job responsibilities
10. Initial supernumery period and mentored role to develop accountability for his/her own professional actions.
11. Supervised assessment of undifferentiated patients with a range of acute, non-acute and chronic medical conditions.
12. Develop core knowledge and competence to a take history, make appropriate physical examinations, formulate differential diagnoses and formulate/manage treatment plans when working in any clinical environment.
13. Refer and facilitate patient pathways through appropriate referrals to primary, community, secondary and tertiary care for patients when necessary, such as 2-week wait, urgent and routine referrals to specialities.
14. Develop the skills and knowledge to recognise the need and initiate emergency treatment to save life or to safeguard the interests of the patient and refer to emergency services when appropriate.
15. Develop the skills and knowledge to assess and manage a wide range of minor injury and illness presentations
16. Develop competence to recognise any social needs, safeguarding concerns and act appropriately to safeguard the patient.
17. Develop competence to ensure that patients are safely discharged from our care with appropriate instructions for after care and follow up.
18. Identify opportunities to proactively encourage health promotion and health education to all patients.
19. Take a person-centred approach to service delivery, based on clear understanding and experience of the modes for service delivery.
20. To assist in the development of new models for service delivery which have a positive impact on the health economy.
21. Develop and maintain clinical competence and knowledge of care delivery within the health care setting taking responsibility for your educational and developmental requirements and continued professional development.
22. To work within the professional Code of Conduct and other directives as defined by the NMC/HCPC.
23. To be responsible and accountable for legible and contemporaneous clinical records
24. To undertake appropriate personal and professional development to meet the requirements of NMC/HCPC Registration.
