Strategy and Government Relations Advisor – 32597
Position: Environment Agency – Strategy Directorate – Full‑time, Associate level.
Role Overview
The Environment Agency is seeking two strategic and Government Relations advisors to strengthen engagement with Government, Parliament, and key stakeholders. Selected candidates will join either the Government Relations or Strategy team.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate inputs to key government processes.
* Draft high‑quality briefings for ministers and senior leaders.
* Support the Chair or Chief Executive with critical information.
* Produce strategic insights on future environmental challenges.
* Assist in delivering the Agency’s corporate strategy.
* Support emergency response, particularly during major flood incidents.
Required Skills & Experience
* Political judgement, attention to detail and clear presentation of information.
* Strong interpersonal skills to build networks and influence outcomes.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, including briefing drafting.
* Project management, analytical thinking and anticipation of stakeholder activity.
* Flexibility under pressure and calm decision‑making.
* Knowledge of environmental issues or sustainable growth and experience in organisation‑wide strategies and stakeholder engagement (desirable).
Location & Working Arrangements
Base: EA Office. National role with flexible/hybrid working. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
