The Conference and Catering Team at Lancashire County Council is seeking to recruit a Casual Catering Assistant to support operations at Bowland Café, located at Beacon Fell in Goosnargh, Preston. Due to the rural location, applicants must have their own transport or reliable arrangements for commuting, as there is no public transport serving the site.
This is a casual position, offering flexible hours across a 7‑day working pattern, between 9:00am and 4:00pm, as and when required.
About You
1. A minimum of 1 year’s catering experience is essential.
2. Experience using EPOS till systems or similar is also essential.
3. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Role Overview
You will contribute to the smooth running of the café by carrying out a range of catering and customer service duties, including (but not limited to):
4. Basic food preparation in line with our Food Safety Management System
5. Supporting stock checks, stock rotation, and refilling coffee machines
6. Preparing and serving food and drinks
7. Operating the cash register and completing daily sales reports
8. Using the dishwasher and restocking shelves, crockery and cutlery
9. Collecting used crockery and cutlery
10. Assisting with cleaning duties in the kitchen and related areas, following established cleaning schedules
11. Providing excellent customer service in a welcoming café environment

Pay & Conditions
Lancashire County Council proudly offers the Foundation Living Wage for this post. This rate is independently calculated each year to reflect the cost of living for employees and their families.
