Commissioning Engineer (EC&I)
Location: Warrington, Cheshire
Salary: £50,000–£60,000K per annum
Car Allowance: £425 per month (£5,100 per annum)
Role Overview We are seeking a skilled Commissioning Engineer with strong electrical and instrumentation expertise to join our team in Warrington, Cheshire. This role will involve regular travel to National Grid and National Gas sites across the UK, so flexibility and a willingness to work nationwide are essential.
You will be hands-on with testing and commissioning LV switchgear, cabling, and electrical systems up to 1000V, ensuring everything runs safely and efficiently. From reading technical drawings to configuring protection devices, you will play a key role in seamless system integration and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Travel to National Grid and National Gas sites across the UK to carry out commissioning activities
Test and commission LV switchgear, MCCs, cabling, and electrical systems up to 1000V
Read and interpret technical drawings to support installations and commissioning activities
Configure and test protection devices for safe system integration
Issue safety documents (training provided) and maintain clear records of progress
Troubleshoot issues on-site, providing effective solutions to keep projects on track
Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) processes
Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and inspection plans
Collaborate with other trades to ensure commissioning runs smoothly and efficiently
Deliver training on new equipment where required
What You’ll Bring
Proven E&I commissioning experience
Background in Power, Energy, or Gas Transmission sectors
Hands-on experience with LV Switchgear and MCCs
Full UK Driving Licence
Engineering apprenticeship or relevant technical training
HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering
Qualified in Inspection & Testing (2391-52)
Current 18th Edition qualification (2382-22)
CSCS/ECS card holder
LV authorised with relevant experience
Desirable:
CompEx EX01–EX04
