DFC Work Experience - Supermarket Assistant
Supermarket Assistant Work Experience will give individuals the opportunity to provide excellent customer service, ensure shelves are well-stocked and presented, and support the smooth running of the store by assisting with a variety of tasks across departments in our floor and till departments in our supermarket setting.
Responsibilities
* Greeting and assisting customers in a friendly and professional manner
* Operating tills, processing transactions, and handling cash/card payments accurately
* Cleaning & stacking shelves and displays, ensuring products are faced off and rotated
* Checking stock levels, reporting shortages, and assisting with deliveries and store duties
* Maintaining high standards of store cleanliness and hygiene at all times
* Following all health, safety, and food hygiene regulations
* Working as part of a team to meet store targets and provide excellent service
* Handling customer queries and complaints efficiently, escalating when necessary
Skills and Qualifications
* Customer Service Skills - friendly, approachable, and able to assist customers with product queriesand recommendations.
* Communication Skills - clear, polite, and confident in speaking with customers and co workers
* Teamwork - ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment
* Time Management - working efficiently during busy periods and completing tasks promptly
* Problem-Solving Skills - handling customer queries and minor issues quickly and effectively.
* Health & Safety Awareness - understanding and following food safety, hygiene, and store safetyprocedures.
* Numeracy Skills - using till and cash handling, and managing stock accurately
* Flexibility & Reliability - willing to work different shifts and dependable in attendance
Further Information
This work experience opportunity is expected to last for 2 weeks and will require attendance of 25 hours/week. While on Work Experience, participants will retain their entitlement to benefit. Those who are not receiving benefit are also welcome to participate. Travel and childcare costs may be reimbursed. Participants will also receive an incentive payment equivalent to £10/day to a maximum of £50/week.
