JOB TITLE: Data Engineering Lead

SALARY: £92,701 - £109,060

LOCATION: Bristol

HOURS: Full Time

WORKING PATTERN: We adopt hybrid working style which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Bristol office.

We provide and guide customers to complete and easy-to-use self-serve offerings where they can do (almost) everything they want within digital. We deepen valued customer relationships, helping them build financial resilience, by understanding what they need and when.

What you’ll do…

1. Act as a technical data lead within Engagement platform

2. Work with various engineering teams to deliver group level data programs

3. Propose and coach teams to follow industry best practices as well as help them align to the group's data strategy

4. Create data strategy along with other data architects and help engineering teams implement them in individual labs

5. Work with various engineering teams to deliver proof of concepts to create new cloud native data patterns for wider adoption

6. Own and continually improve upon our current data estate to simplify it and reduce cost in the process.

7. Be aware of financial industry level data classification and work with various business and technology teams to adopt them

8. Represent CS&E in various data forums

9. Run CS&E data working group along with lead architects, CTO, business function and other stakeholders

What you’ll need:

10. Hands-on proven experience of delivering systems design, software development, testing and operational stability.

11. Proven experience and knowledge of automation and CI/CD

12. Proficiency in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and technologies, such as Python, PL/SQL

13. Experience in working with large-scale data sets, data pipelines, and cloud platforms, such as Google Cloud

14. Experience in using distributed systems and event driven architecture

15. Experience of containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure or AWS

16. Strong experience working with Kafka technologies

17. Experience in running Data architecture working groups where deliveries are happening external to immediate team

And any experience of these would be really useful:

18. Certification in GCP “Cloud Architect”, “Cloud Developer”, “Professional Data Engineer”

19. Experience in data analysis

20. Experience in data modelling

21. Experience in data estate and technology simplification

22. Proficiency across the data lifecycle management

23. Experience of hiring and recognising and emerging talent

24. Knowledge of Agile and SAFE principles
