Our Team

We are recruiting an Associate to join Partner Lisa Boyd in Dublin, who covers both construction and procurement (contentious and non‑contentious), as well as commercial contracts in Northern Ireland. This is a varied role, also covering procurement and construction matters for other jurisdictions including ROI and the UK.

You will also be part of the wider Eversheds Sutherland global team, a friendly, well‑integrated group of specialist lawyers committed to excellent client service, team growth, and the further development of the practice.

As a Band 1 listed practice, our lawyers are recognised as leaders in their field and will support you in developing your skills as a highly skilled procurement lawyer.

Role And Key Responsibilities

As a Construction Associate, you will play a pivotal role in the firm’s Projects & Construction practice, working on a wide range of complex transactions across a variety of areas including commercial development, residential, infrastructure, transport and energy. You will also work closely with many other departments in the firm on construction elements of deals particularly with Real Estate on forward sale and forward funding development, Banking on financing and refinancing of projects and Corporate on and M&A transactions.

This is a unique opportunity to join a fast growing, high‑performing and friendly team and the successful candidate will get to collaborate with a diverse client base and to work closely with other departments within Eversheds Sutherland to contribute to the firm’s continued success in this practice area. Due to our continued growth, we are recruiting across various levels to join our Dublin team.

They will have exposure to high quality work and the opportunity to develop their skills further, learning from direct experience but supported by partners and senior lawyers. The continued success of the team creates real opportunities for merit‑based promotion.

Skills And Experience

* Ideally have 1–2 years post‑qualification experience within a respected law firm or in‑house legal team, focusing on construction, infrastructure, and / or major projects. Exceptional candidates outside this range will also be considered.
* Experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts (in particular RIAI, NEC and standard design appointments) and ancillary documents with a good understanding of market requirements.
* Experience advising clients through‑out the life cycle of a construction project.
* Are Northern Ireland qualified. Additional qualification in ROI or English law would be a bonus.
* Experience in procurement law and commercial contracts is desirable but not essential; candidates with both procurement and construction experience are particularly welcome.

* Reward for performance, alignment to values, and going above and beyond.
* Flexible ways of working through our remote and hybrid working policies.
* Health support, including dental, healthcare, and wellness programs.
