About the Role:
Reed Education is working in partnership with a large and well-established secondary school in Durham to recruit a dedicated and detail-oriented School Finance Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic school environment and support the financial operations that underpin student success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the School Resources Team with day-to-day financial administration.
* Process purchase orders, invoices, and payments using the school’s finance systems (e.g., SIMS FMS, PS Financials).
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
* Assist with budget monitoring, monthly reconciliations, and year-end procedures.
* Manage petty cash, staff expenses, and school trip finances.
* Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve financial queries.
* Support payroll and HR-related financial tasks as required.
* Ensure compliance with school and local authority financial policies.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Previous experience in a finance or administrative role.
* Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and financial software.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding.
Desirable:
* Experience in a school or education setting.
* Familiarity with school finance systems (e.g., SIMS FMS).
* Finance-related qualifications (e.g., AAT, NVQ).
