An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated enthusiastic senior nurse to fill the position of Matron Critical Care at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. This comes at a time when the service has just moved into a brand new building so it is an ideal moment to welcome a new leader into the team.
You will be a Registered Nurse with substantial post registration experience with a background in Critical Care nursing - an understanding of the GPICS standards is essential.
You will be able to support the team and work collaboratively with clinical leads and the East of England Network.
Working as a visible Matron you will bring outstanding leadership and management skills, being able to inspire and motivate others to ensure that the services we provide supports the Trusts values.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should have an in depth knowledge of Critical Care Nursing and be able to lead on the delivery of safe, high quality care, supporting and driving quality improvement from the teams ensuring an excellent patient experience.
The post holder will be visible and accessible, act as role model, provide inspirational leadership and professional guidance to the nursing teams in the service.

Job Summary
Responsibility & accountability for operational management for Critical Care
Provide professional leadership and nursing expertise on Critical Care, interpreting and implementing national targets and initiatives
Lead for clinical governance and clinical risk, ensuring local and national quality and clinical standards are embedded within the service and learning shared
Lead for patient experience
Responsible for ensuring optimum use of Nurse staffing and skill mix to achieve safe, effective, high quality care within allocated budget and in line with Trust rostering policy.
Ensure seamless multi professional approach to the care of critically ill patients and their families
Lead/participate in implementing professional and corporate objectiv
Maintain a focus on ensuring the Critical Care environment is safe, clean and well maintained and that there is a 'cleanliness culture'. Work closely and cooperatively with the infection prevention team to ensure best practice is maintained.
