About The Role

Role: Crisis and Triage Officer

Location: Chorley and South Ribble

Contract: Full time (36.25 hours per week) / Fixed Term Contract (Until 31st March 2029)

Salary: £31,537 - £33,699

Closing Date: 14 June 2026

The UK Government has put in place a brand new programme to help people who are in crisis to access support as quickly as possible as well as taking the opportunity to build resilience within our communities. The Crisis and Triage Officer is a new role which is at the heart of supporting people coming to the council and seeking help. If you are passionate about supporting people and want to make a difference, this is your opportunity.

As the role is shared with Chorley Council, you will be working in a team that is connecting different council departments as well as partners across the two boroughs, making sure people get the support and help they need.


What you’ll be getting up to

* Speaking directly with our residents and supporting them through their applications for crisis support
* Helping residents and households to get in touch with other services that can support them
* You will be making the decisions on providing financial support to people in crisis


Who we’re looking for

* People who are able to understand a households lived experience and be empathetic and compassionate towards those who are experiencing a crisis
* Confident in being able to speak with residents over the phone or face to face when needed
* Able to manage case work in an efficient way and take care in meeting the needs of residents
* Take seriously their role in being representative of the councils and providing excellent customer service


Other requirements

* This role requires some travel around our boroughs to commute between workplaces. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
* Successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check (applied and paid for by the Council).
