The role:
The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre (BWoSCC) is the second largest cancer centre in the UK and has a dedicated Clinical Trials and Research Facility, and our Team is also responsible for the National Bone Marrow Transplant and ATMP/CAR-T service. You will be part of the Core Band 7 Clinical Cancer Care pharmacy service.
The post holders will work across all solid tumour and haematological cancer specialities across inpatient, day case and outpatient services. The post holders will also rotate through the BWoSCC dispensing and aseptic service, as well as have the opportunity to experience bone marrow transplant and ATMP/CAR-T services. We are focused on optimising the use of skills, e.g., Non-Medical Prescribing and Advanced Practice, as well as continually striving to develop our services.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Permanent, Full-time
Base location - Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, with rotation to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, New Victoria Hospital and possibly other areas where cancer services are delivered within GGC
Shift Pattern - 36h over 5 shifts Monday - Friday
Key responsibilities:
General Duties
1. Support medicines use reviews, evaluations, research and clinical audits.
2. Manage and escalate risks related to medicine use and administration.
3. Comply with all legal, statutory and professional requirements for safe medicines handling.
4. Ensure secure storage and safe working procedures for medicines across all areas.
5. Maintain broad pharmacy knowledge, including dispensing, distribution and IV preparation.
6. Monitor safe and secure handling of medicines and undertake routine drug checks (e.g., controlled drugs).
7. Prioritise workload and contribute to service development and redesign.
8. Maintain CPD, attend training, and complete Turas/PDP reviews for staff.
9. Supervise, train and support pharmacy, medical, nursing and other staff.
10. Deputise for senior staff and participate in weekend, extended hours, public holiday and oncall rotas.
Clinical
11. Provide specialist pharmaceutical care within designated clinical areas.
12. Use NHS GG&C Triage Referral Guidance to assess and deliver pharmaceutical care.
13. Document and action drug histories, care plans and monitoring requirements.
14. Screen discharge prescriptions and participate in ward rounds and MDTs.
15. Advise prescribers, healthcare professionals and patients on safe and costeffective medicines use.
16. Support continuity of care with primary care colleagues.
17. Identify clinical governance issues and follow national/local protocols.
18. Support formulary management, patients own medicines, selfmedication, discharge planning and patient education.
19. Monitor medicine usage and ensure accurate, legal prescribing documentation.
20. After training, act as a nonmedical prescriber within a defined scope.
21. Participate in clinical trials when required.
Education and Training
22. Train and supervise pharmacy staff, trainees, technicians and other healthcare professionals.
23. Provide education to staff on safe, clinical and costeffective prescribing.
24. Educate patients and carers on safe medicine use.
25. Act as tutor for Foundation Training Programme and PreRegistration Pharmacists.
Audit, Research and Development
26. Support implementation and evaluation of guidelines and protocols.
27. Participate in pharmacy-led and multidisciplinary audits or research.
28. Contribute to clinical trial activities.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
A Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent is essential
Registered member of the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain is essential
