Job overview

At Barts Health, communications isn’t just about messages — it’s about impact. This is your opportunity to shape stories that matter, connect with one of the most diverse communities in the country, and support the delivery of world-class care across our hospitals.

We’re looking for a creative and driven campaigns specialist to join our group communications team. You’ll play a key role in delivering insight-led campaigns and corporate communications that inform, engage and inspire our staff, patients and partners.

You’ll create compelling content across digital, social, media and internal channels — bringing ideas to life in ways that are inclusive, accessible and that drive positive behaviour change. Whether supporting major campaigns, telling powerful patient stories, or helping shape our corporate narrative, your work will make a visible difference.

This is a fast-paced, collaborative role. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the trust, contributing to a culture that is ambitious, supportive and always learning.

Our WeCare values shape everything we do — from how we care for patients to how we support each other. You’ll be part of a team that values compassion, inclusion and continuous improvement, where your ideas and development matter.

At Barts Health, you won’t just deliver campaigns — you’ll help shape the future of healthcare communications in one of the NHS’s largest and most ambitious trusts.

Main duties of the job

The campaigns specialist is a key member of the group communications team, responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality, insight-led campaigns and corporate communications projects that help deliver the trust’s priorities.

The role is focused on implementing campaign plans, including creating, adapting and publishing content across a range of internal and external channels. The postholder must be skilled in producing engaging content in multiple formats — including digital, social, film, media and news — that connects with diverse audiences and reflects the trust’s tone and values.

Working closely with the senior campaigns manager and colleagues across the team, the postholder helps ensure campaign activity is well targeted, timely and consistent with wider communications priorities. The role involves day-to-day planning and delivery, responding flexibly to changing needs, and contributing to the evaluation of campaign reach and impact.

The campaigns specialist reports to the senior campaigns lead and supports delivery across a range of topics and projects.

*one campaigns specialist will be aligned to group support services (GSS), including providing cross-team cover during periods of absence. The other will be aligned to St Bartholomew’s Hospital, supporting local delivery of hospital communications plans (with a dotted reporting line to head of internal and hospital communications).

Working for our organisation

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.

Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.

We strive to live by our WeCare values and are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment.
