We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual with experience of working as an assistant psychologist to join our team on a 6 month secondment, to work in our assessment and treatment inpatient services for young people and adults with intellectual (learning) disabilities.
Main duties of the job
Your role will be to provide support to the qualified clinical team in delivering a high-quality psychology service within some of the inpatient services, working in a multi-disciplinary team and engaging with young people and adults with complex needs and who can display a range of behavioural challenge. These are busy professional roles in which energy, initiative and reflective practice are vital.
Positive Behavioural Support is a major part of our treatment philosophy and the service ethos is to ensure that effective, evidence-based interventions are provided to people who can present considerable risk, to ensure that they can return to a less restrictive environment in the community as soon as possible.
The post-holder is required to have a British Psychological Society accredited psychology degree (grade 2:1 or above) and will need good communication skills (written and verbal) along with organisational skills and the ability to work independently. Support and supervision will be provided by a clinical psychologist within the team.
