Overview

Job Role: Lead Academy Physiotherapist
Location: Poolfoot Farm

Reporting to: Academy Head of Medical

Main role: To deliver excellent physiotherapy services to Academy players of Fleetwood Town Football Club, aiming to optimise performance, reduce injury risk and minimise recovery time from injury.


Responsibilities

* Concisely present information and data relating to injured players in the daily sports science and medicine meetings and weekly rehabilitation meetings.
* Communicate effectively with Academy Head of Medical to ensure they are kept up-to-date on all medical matters relating to Academy squad players.
* Contribute to the injury reports that are communicated to all relevant staff weekly, ensuring concise and up-to-date information is provided.
* Liaise closely with all Sports Science and Medical staff to ensure that an effective and efficient service is provided to the players.
* Clinical: Provide an excellent standard of assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to Academy players. Review and provide further opinion on the management of all Academy injuries as required by the Academy Head of Medical. Lead on the rehabilitation of injured players as required by the Academy Head of Medical. Plan and deliver gym-based return-to-play sessions in conjunction with the Sports Science staff. Attend all U18s or U21s squad home and away fixtures as required by the Head of Medical. Accompany players to medical appointments as required.
* Administration: Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical notes in keeping with HCPC regulations. Carry out departmental administration tasks as required. Liaise with the Club Secretary regarding whereabouts of U18s and U21s players when absent from training.
* Knowledge and Clinical Skills: Keep up-to-date knowledge of current sports injury research. Maintain comprehensive knowledge in the assessment, treatment and diagnosis of sports injuries. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of rehabilitation and injury reduction strategies. Continuous development of knowledge of movement analysis and intervention strategies.
* Personality Traits: Conscientious—thorough and has an eye for detail. Able to manage first team players. Composure—unflappable in a high-pressure environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills with staff, players and external providers. Strong organisational skills. Team player. Strong work ethic.

The tasks and responsibilities listed are not exhaustive and are a guide to core service delivery. These duties are subject to periodic review and may be amended to meet the changing needs of the business.

Applicants will need to have a flexible approach to work and be able to work evenings, weekends and match days as required.

You will require a full, valid UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle.

The Club will induct the post holder in to the Club’s safeguarding policies and protocols, and will clearly outline the roles and responsibilities required as part of their role. This includes ensuring the post holder is appropriately qualified in safeguarding and receives regular CPD, to maintain consistency with the Club and their staff.
