About the Opportunity
An established UK manufacturing group is seeking a strategic and visionary Supply Chain Director to lead and optimise supply chain operations across South Wales and national sites.
This newly defined position will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, strengthening supplier relationships, and delivering measurable commercial performance. The successful candidate will oversee all areas of supply chain, logistics, procurement, and production planning — ensuring efficiency, cost control, and sustainability are embedded in every aspect of the business.

The Role
As Supply Chain Director, you’ll be responsible for the strategic leadership and operational execution of the entire supply chain function, ensuring alignment with the company’s business objectives and growth strategy.
You will:
* Develop and implement the company’s supply chain and operational strategy, driving performance and profitability.
* Oversee daily operations across logistics, purchasing, warehousing, and production planning.
* Champion efficiency and sustainability, delivering cost reductions and measurable improvements in environmental performance.
* Lead a robust procurement function, managing key supplier relationships and sourcing high-quality materials in competitive commodities markets.
* Drive packaging and waste reduction initiatives, improving resilience and mitigating operational risks.
* Negotiate and manage contracts with new and existing supply chain partners.
* Set strategic direction for Supply Chain and Procurement functions to directly contribute to EBIT growth.
* Lead the logistics and warehousing operations, ensuring optimised scheduling, load management, and fleet utilisation.
* Manage financial performance through budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring business targets are achieved.
* Ensure regulatory, environmental, and health &; safety compliance across all operations.
* Foster a high-performance culture, inspiring cross-functional teams to deliver innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Partner with the senior leadership team to align operations with broader corporate strategy and growth goals.
About You
You’ll be a proven senior leader with the ability to combine strategic vision and operational execution. You understand the complexities of modern supply chains and thrive on improving performance, building resilience, and delivering tangible commercial impact.
Essential Experience:
* At least 7 years’ experience in a senior leadership role within supply chain, operations, or procurement.
* Proven success as a Supply Chain Specialist with strong knowledge of manufacturing, logistics, and production processes.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills, able to influence and inspire at all levels.
* Strong analytical and decision-making ability, with a focus on data-driven improvement.
* Deep understanding of market trends, procurement strategy, and supplier management.
* Experience in financial planning, risk management, and operational efficiency.
Desirable:
* Degree or master’s qualification in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field.
* Professional certification such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement &; Supply).
* Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
