Electrical Design Engineer

£30.80 PAYE or £41.41 Umbrella
Working Arrangements: 2 days on site per week (potential for fully remote)
BAE Systems Naval Ships is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer with a strong background in power distribution, lighting, and electrical systems design. You'll deliver detailed electrical design solutions, ensure technical compliance, and act as a key contributor within the electrical design team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver and verify high-quality electrical detail design outputs
* Produce and check electrical schematics, cable schedules, and system diagrams
* Conduct design reviews, audits, and quality assurance activities
* Support Team Leads and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering stakeholders
* Provide technical guidance on electrical systems, power distribution, and lighting design
* Ensure designs meet applicable defence, safety, and engineering standards
About You:
* Strong background in electrical detail design or electrical engineering
* Experience with electrical design tools (e.g. AutoCAD, FORAN, or similar)
* Knowledge of power distribution systems, lighting, and control systems
* Previous experience working within a Naval Ships or defence environment desirable
* Good understanding of electrical design processes and quality standards
* Confident communicator with ability to support and mentor junior team members
* Apprenticeship, HNC/ONC, or equivalent electrical engineering qualification desirable
