Technical Trainer - Machining
Salary: £29,565 - £42,868
Hours: 37 hours
Annual leave: 30 per annum plus statutory Bank Holidays

The Technical Trainer is responsible for a caseload of learners participating in training. They contribute to the design and delivery of learning programmes and assessments, enabling participants to successfully achieve their qualifications, including full Apprenticeship standards. They liaise closely with employers and play a key role in developing learners to achieve their learning goals and inspiring them to overcome barriers.
Responsibilities
* Plan, conduct and participate in induction and initial assessment of learners to identify realistic learning priorities and develop individual learning plans with employers.
* Develop, deliver and manage units within the Machining BTEC.
* Build and maintain relationships with external partners, local employers and agencies to recruit learners.
* Provide information, advice and guidance to learners and employers to promote timely achievement of agreed learning aims and SMART objectives.
* Assess knowledge, skills and behaviours; deliver and assess Apprenticeship Standards and competencies against NVQ programmes where required.
* Maintain a minimum caseload of learners, assisting them to achieve qualifications and the Apprenticeship Standard and preparing them for End Point Assessment.
* Develop business with existing employers and identify new opportunities.
* Work in a team to plan and deliver a structured scheme of work and develop lesson plans that meet the learning needs of learners.
* Support the continued evaluation of learning needs and objectives through regular review and attendance at best practice groups.
* Comply with contractual standards, emphasizing recruiting participants, managing retention and achievements.
* Establish a purposeful learning environment where learners feel safe, secure, confident and valued.
* Meet targets and support the organisation in the delivery of its corporate strategy.
* Conduct health and safety risk assessments of employers ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
* In consultation with the employer, monitor and review learners’ progress in the workplace to ensure the achievement of qualification standards.
* Contribute to performance management of the programme, monitoring key performance indicators such as learner numbers, attendance and timeliness of achievement.
* Participate in continuous improvement through programme and self‑assessment reviews, staff meetings, working groups and development projects related to the Education Inspection Framework.
Qualifications
* Level 3 Machining qualification or equivalent – Essential
* English and Maths GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) – Essential
* TAQA or A1 assessor qualification, or willingness to work towards – Desirable
* Teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards – Desirable
* Award in Internal Verification or V1, or willingness to work towards – Desirable

* Knowledge of Apprenticeship Standards – Desirable

Experience
* Industry experience – Essential
* Practical occupational experience as required by Code of Practice and relevant awarding bodies
* Experience of working in a commercial and industrial setting
* Proven track record of consistently achieving performance targetsProven track record of imparting skills and learning to others
* Knowledge of monitoring subcontracted provision – Desirable
Other Requirements
* Use of a car and current driving licence
* Ability to work flexible hours and locations as required
