This is a wonderfully varied role, perfect for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck into all sorts of tasty projects. You’ll be working closely with our Product Development and Marketing teams to help shape and strengthen the packaging that brings our food to life on shelf. Alongside this, you’ll be dreaming up fresh packaging ideas for both our much‑loved favourites and the exciting new products we’re exploring.
You’ll also play an important part in our sustainability journey, reviewing how we’re doing against our packaging targets, spotting opportunities to do better, and partnering with our Sustainability Manager to help us hit our goals as part of our bigger, planet‑kind strategy.
What you will be DOING ?
* Lead all packaging focussed projects, from finished products to incoming raw materials), liaising cross functionally.
* Working with the process team, support initial packaging trials
* Responsible for the generation of packaging briefs and liaising with packaging suppliers
* Accountable for the artwork process, managing changes to existing packaging and the creation of new packaging. Ensuring OTIF delivery
* Investigate and prepare business cases for structural packaging optimisation projects (cost saving or consumer driven) without compromising the product integrity
* Lead projects to deliver packaging reduction, reusability or recycled content improvements whilst considering current operational needs/capabilities (including raw materials coming into the business)
What SKILLS do you need to have?
Essential
* Knowledge/experience of an FMCG environment in a Packaging Technical role with a proficiency across a broad range of packaging materials and their respective machinery interfaces, with a strong focus on sustainability, packaging waste and the environment
* Knowledge of print processes and relationships with printers
* Project management & collaboration skills to lead a cross functional team
* Highly motivated individual with strong interpersonal, communication & relationship building skills.
* Resilience combined with emotional intelligence to build collaborative powerful relationships.
* Ability to work to and achieve against stretching targets within agreed timescales providing updates throughout the project.
* Ability to work under pressure whilst able to prioritise and drive multiple projects at once to ensure all agreed targets are achieved
* Good commercial understanding and ability to provide directional costs to the business in a clear understandable way
* Ability to work independently to deliver results
Ideal
* Have accomplished IT Skills in Microsoft programs
* Honours or Degree Equivalent in Science or Engineering or a Packaging Diploma is preferable
