We're here to help! ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE: This is a senior communications role focused on ABM’s most critical sector and associated strategic accounts. The role exists to protect and grow customer relationships while strengthening colleague engagement and employer brand by providing integrated, proactive and commercially minded communications support across internal and external audiences. It is designed to complement existing UK&I Communications roles by focusing specifically on sector aligned communications across all sectors we operate in. This role acts as a trusted advisor to strategic account leadership, ensuring impactful communications are aligned to ABM UK&I business strategy, sector strategy, contract priorities, team member engagement and reputational risk management. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Sector account partnership • Act as the senior communications business partner for strategic accounts across UK&I • Embed within account leadership teams to provide proactive, commercially aligned communications recommendations • Translate sector and account strategy, performance and risk into focused communications plans that support retention, team member engagement and reputation. • Advise account directors and client stakeholders on engagement, messaging, EVP positioning and reputational considerations. Internal communications and Engagement • Lead internal communications across sector and strategic accounts, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment across audiences. • Support high-impact moments including operational change, mobilisation/demobilisation, transformation activity and issue management, ensuring team member experience and ABM culture proactively managed. • Develop concise leadership messaging, briefings and toolkits • Use engagement data, sentiment insight and feedback to shape internal communications priorities and continuously improve impact. COMMUNICATIONS External and client facing communications • Lead sector and account level external communications in partnership with UK&I and enterprise Communications teams and PR agencies • Support client facing touchpoints including announcements, social media, case studies, awards and thought leadership, ensuring alignment with ABM’s employer brand and sector positioning. • Manage account level issues including incident disruption, reputation management, and crisis communications in line with ABM governance and client protocols. Stakeholder management and governance • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across operations, HR, legal, Marketing, QHSEand sales teams. • Navigate complex client governance and approval processes with confidence and credibility. • Act as the conduit between account teams and central communications, ensuring pace, clarity and alignment. • Track success measures through engagement data for strategic account communications linked to business outcomes. • Use insight and feedback to continuously improve effectiveness and impact. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Essential • Extensive experience in a senior communications role within complex / regulated environments. • Demonstrated ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and clients. • Strong experience across internal and external communications, including issues management and linking internal communication to engagement, culture and employee brand. • Excellent judgement, particularly in reputational risk and crisis situations. • Strong writing and briefing skills, with the ability to distil complex information Desirable • Experience in transport, infrastructure, life sciences or similarly regulated sectors. • Experience supporting large frontline or unionised workforces.
