Background: The UK Space Agency:
The UK Space Agency (UKSA) is an executive agency of the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT) that provides technical advice on the government’s space strategy. It supports the UK space sector to deliver the government’s vision.
Space is integral to daily life. Satellites underpin our economy, supporting agriculture, banking, aviation, and shipping, and bolster national security. Space science offers critical data to address global challenges like climate change, while missions exploring our solar system foster international cooperation and human progress.
UKSA promotes a thriving space sector in the UK, which generates £18.9 billion annually and employs 52,028 people nationwide.
Through various programmes and projects, UKSA encourages the development of national space capabilities, invests early in space R&D, promotes sector achievements, connects industry and academia, and represents the UK internationally, including with the European Space Agency.
